Vehicle Finance Enquiries on TradeXchange: How the Matching Process Works
In this article

Vehicle finance is not the same type of service as moving a car or inspecting one.

A transporter can usually quote a fixed amount for a defined route.

A finance provider needs to assess the customer, the vehicle and the requested product before giving meaningful terms.

That is why TradeXchange uses a matched-enquiry model for Vehicle Finance rather than the paid-job marketplace used for Delivery, Recovery and Vehicle Inspection.

The customer submits one structured finance enquiry.

With the customer's consent, CarMazium may share the enquiry and contact details with up to five matched, approved finance providers.

Those providers then respond using their own eligibility process, products and regulated terms.

CarMazium introduces the customer to providers. It does not make the lending decision.

What Is a TradeXchange Finance Enquiry?

A finance enquiry is a request for approved providers to consider the customer's vehicle-finance needs.

It is not:

  • an automatic loan approval,
  • a guaranteed APR,
  • a final credit decision,
  • or a paid TradeXchange service job.

The current form is available on the TradeXchange Vehicle Finance page.

The customer can enter the vehicle and finance information before signing in, and the form can be restored in the same tab after sign-in so the details do not have to be re-entered unnecessarily.

What Information Does the Finance Form Ask For?

The current TradeXchange finance flow asks for useful information in several groups.

Vehicle Information

This can include:

  • registration,
  • year,
  • make,
  • model,
  • mileage,
  • and approximate vehicle value.

Finance Requirements

This can include:

  • deposit,
  • preferred term,
  • monthly budget,
  • employment status,
  • and annual income.

Contact and Location

This includes:

  • phone number,
  • postcode,
  • and any additional notes that may help providers understand the request.

Providing complete information helps the matched providers decide whether the enquiry fits their products.

Why Does TradeXchange Ask for Vehicle Value?

The approximate vehicle value helps the provider understand the size and context of the finance requirement.

A customer looking for finance on a £4,000 vehicle and a customer looking for finance on a £40,000 vehicle may require very different products.

The figure should therefore be realistic.

If you are using CarMazium to buy or sell the vehicle, use the available valuation and listing information as a reference rather than entering a random number.

Why Ask for a Deposit?

The deposit is part of the customer's intended funding structure.

A larger or smaller deposit can affect the amount the customer wants to finance.

TradeXchange does not decide how a provider will treat that deposit.

The provider applies its own product rules and eligibility criteria.

The form simply gives the provider enough information to understand the enquiry.

Preferred Finance Term

The current form lets customers indicate a preferred term such as:

  • 24 months,
  • 36 months,
  • 48 months,
  • 60 months,
  • or 72 months.

A preference is not a guarantee that every provider will offer that exact term.

A provider may:

  • offer a different term,
  • decline the enquiry,
  • request more information,
  • or explain that another product structure is more suitable under its own criteria.

The final product information comes from the provider.

Monthly Budget

The monthly-budget field helps providers understand what the customer is trying to achieve.

It should not be treated as a promise that a provider will make the numbers fit.

The finance provider is responsible for its own:

  • eligibility,
  • affordability process,
  • credit assessment,
  • rates,
  • and regulated disclosures.

Customers should compare the actual provider terms rather than choosing only on the monthly figure.

A lower monthly payment over a longer term can still produce a higher total amount payable.

Employment Status and Income

TradeXchange asks for employment status and annual income because providers need enough information to assess whether an enquiry is relevant to their lending process.

Current employment options can include:

  • Employed
  • Self-employed
  • Retired
  • Other

The provider may ask for further evidence depending on its own criteria.

Submitting the form does not mean CarMazium has assessed affordability or creditworthiness.

That remains with the provider.

Why Is Postcode Required?

Postcode can help with:

  • matching,
  • provider coverage,
  • identity and contact context,
  • and other provider-specific requirements.

TradeXchange validates UK postcode formatting as part of the enquiry-quality controls.

That helps avoid incomplete or unusable enquiries being sent to providers.

What Happens After You Submit?

The workflow is different from a paid service job.

1. You Complete the Enquiry

Enter the required vehicle, finance and contact information.

The current form asks the customer to agree that CarMazium may share the enquiry and contact details with up to five matched, approved finance providers.

3. Approved Providers Receive the Enquiry

Only businesses approved for the Vehicle Finance capability can receive finance enquiries.

4. Providers Respond

The providers use their own products, eligibility rules and customer process.

They may request additional information before giving meaningful terms.

5. You Compare the Responses

The customer decides whether any provider response is suitable.

CarMazium does not choose the finance agreement for the customer.

Why Up to Five Providers?

The matched-enquiry model is intended to give the customer more than one potential route without broadcasting the enquiry indiscriminately.

The current consent wording allows sharing with up to five matched, approved providers.

That does not guarantee five responses.

A matched provider may decide:

  • the enquiry is outside its criteria,
  • the vehicle does not fit its product,
  • the customer's requirements are not suitable,
  • or it needs more information.

The number of actual responses can therefore vary.

Who Can Receive Finance Enquiries?

Only businesses approved by CarMazium for the Vehicle Finance capability.

A business being a motor trader on CarMazium does not automatically mean it can receive finance enquiries.

Capability approval is separate.

This is the same principle used across TradeXchange: the provider should be approved for the service it is offering.

Does CarMazium Lend the Money?

No.

CarMazium is not making the lending decision through this TradeXchange workflow.

It introduces the customer to matched providers.

The finance provider is responsible for:

  • deciding whether the customer is eligible,
  • any credit checks,
  • any affordability assessment,
  • the APR,
  • product terms,
  • regulated disclosures,
  • and the finance agreement.

Customers should read the provider's documentation carefully before agreeing.

Does the 9% TradeXchange Job Fee Apply?

No.

The current 91% provider share / 9% CarMazium service-fee model applies to paid Delivery, Recovery and Vehicle Inspection jobs.

Vehicle Finance is a matched enquiry, not a paid job under that model.

CarMazium does not take a customer's finance payment through the Delivery/Inspection job flow and then deduct 9% from a finance-provider payout.

This distinction is important for both customers and providers.

Finance Providers: How the Business Side Works

A business that wants to receive finance enquiries applies for the Vehicle Finance capability.

Once approved, the business can receive relevant matched enquiries through its provider dashboard.

The provider then controls its own:

  • product range,
  • eligibility process,
  • pricing,
  • rates,
  • customer contact,
  • and regulated documentation.

TradeXchange is the introduction and workflow layer.

It does not replace the provider's own lending process.

Why Enquiry Quality Matters

A finance enquiry with almost no information is not useful to a provider.

TradeXchange therefore requires materially useful data before a finance enquiry can proceed.

This includes, depending on the flow:

  • registration or make/model,
  • valid UK postcode,
  • vehicle value,
  • finance term,
  • employment status,
  • and budget or income information.

The purpose is to reduce empty or low-quality enquiries reaching providers.

What If You Do Not Know the Registration?

The finance flow can still require enough vehicle identity to make the enquiry meaningful.

If registration is unavailable, make and model details can help establish what vehicle the finance is intended for.

The more precise the vehicle information, the easier it is for the provider to understand the request.

What Happens to Old Enquiries?

Finance enquiries are not intended to stay open forever.

TradeXchange uses an enquiry lifecycle so old open enquiries can expire.

When an enquiry expires, outstanding recipient records can also be closed.

This prevents providers from treating stale customer requests as current opportunities.

For customers, that means a new finance need should normally be submitted as a current enquiry rather than relying on an old request indefinitely.

Finance Enquiry vs Car Purchase

A finance enquiry does not itself buy the vehicle.

The customer still needs to:

  • choose the car,
  • agree the purchase,
  • complete any required inspection,
  • and follow the seller or marketplace transaction process.

Finance is one supporting part of the wider vehicle journey.

That is why TradeXchange finance sits alongside:

  • the CarMazium marketplace,
  • vehicle inspection,
  • delivery,
  • and warranty services.

Why the Vehicle Details Matter Before Finance

The provider may care about:

  • vehicle age,
  • mileage,
  • value,
  • type,
  • and other eligibility factors.

A finance response for one vehicle should not automatically be assumed to apply unchanged to another car.

If the intended vehicle changes materially, tell the provider.

The final finance agreement must reflect the actual product and vehicle being financed.

What Should Customers Compare?

When providers respond, do not compare only the monthly payment.

Look at the full provider information, including where applicable:

  • APR,
  • total amount payable,
  • deposit,
  • term,
  • fees,
  • early-settlement information,
  • mileage or ownership conditions where relevant,
  • product type,
  • and regulated disclosures.

If something is unclear, ask the provider before agreeing.

TradeXchange gives the customer access to matched providers, but the customer still needs to understand the agreement.

What If a Provider Declines?

A declined enquiry does not necessarily mean every provider will make the same decision.

Different approved providers can have different criteria.

However, customers should not repeatedly submit misleading information in an attempt to bypass eligibility rules.

Use accurate details.

If circumstances change, update the provider honestly.

Does Submitting Affect Your Credit File?

TradeXchange itself is not making the lending decision.

Whether a provider performs a credit search, what type of search it uses and when that occurs is part of the provider's process.

The provider should explain this before carrying out any credit-check activity that requires customer understanding or consent.

Do not assume that submitting the initial TradeXchange enquiry is identical to completing a full finance application with a provider.

Finance for Motor Traders vs Retail Customers

TradeXchange's customer finance enquiry is designed around a vehicle-finance need submitted through the CarMazium ecosystem.

A motor-trade business may use different commercial finance products for stock funding or business operations.

Those should not be confused with the retail vehicle-finance enquiry flow unless a provider specifically offers them through the relevant capability.

Always follow the product terms supplied by the provider.

The Bottom Line

TradeXchange Vehicle Finance is a matching workflow, not a lending decision.

You submit vehicle, finance and contact information.

With your consent, CarMazium may share the enquiry with up to five matched, approved finance providers.

Those providers respond through their own eligibility and product process.

CarMazium does not decide whether you qualify, set the APR or issue the finance agreement.

And unlike paid Delivery, Recovery and Inspection jobs, the 91% / 9% TradeXchange service-job fee model does not apply.
